In conjunction with the founding of the Company, Orchard Partners created an Advisory Board to provide directional guidance. Currently, the Advisory Board consists of:
David J. Brown is a private investor and serves as advisor to the Company. In 1973 Brown founded Orchard Properties, the predecessor of Orchard Investors, LLC and Orchard Commercial Inc. During his career, Brown has acquired and developed over 8.5 million square feet for Orchard Properties, valued in excess of $2.5 billion.
Prior to forming Orchard Properties, Brown was Regional Vice President for Boise Cascade Building Company, where he completed the acquisition, development, and management of four major Bay Area Industrial Parks. Brown also developed commercial and industrial income properties for Holvick deRegt Koering, Newhall Land & Farming Company, and White Investment Company.
Brown received his Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and was a founding member of the Wharton Real Estate Center. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Claremont McKenna College and served on its school's Board of Trustees. Brown's professional affiliations include the UC Berkeley Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics, the Urban Land Institute, and the National Association of Industrial Office Parks (NAIOP).
Paul Lewis ("Lew") Davies III is Managing Partner of The Cambria Group () and is an advisor to the Company. He was previously a Principal in the leveraged buyout groups of both Brentwood Associates and The Fremont Group.
Previously, Davies worked for Bechtel Group, Inc., in both operating and financial roles. In addition, Davies had leadership roles in Bechtel Enterprises, the company's project financing and investment arm, having opened its office in Saudi Arabia, with responsibility for all Middle Eastern activity, and having worked in numerous capacities in its merchant banking activities. He also served on the team established to secure the release of company personnel trapped during Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.
Earlier, Davies worked in Chevron Corporation's foreign operation staff and was the primary real estate analyst for the company's U.S. and Canadian pension plans.
Davies holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, with distinction, from Stanford University. He also received an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. He currently serves on seven corporate boards, as well as serving on the Board of Overseers of the Hoover Institution.
Irving F. “Bud” Lyons is a private investor who spent the previous 12 years with ProLogis (NYSE: PLD), a global provider of distribution facilities and services. Lyons served ProLogis as its Chief Investment Officer from 1997 to 2001, and then was its Vice Chairman until his retirement in May 2006.
Prior to joining ProLogis, Lyons was a Managing Partner of King & Lyons, a San Francisco Bay Area industrial real estate development and management company, since its inception in 1979. He graduated with a BS in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He received his MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Lyons is a director of two publicly traded companies, BRE Properties (NYSE: BRE) and Equinix, Inc. (NYSE: EQIX), as well as serving as a Trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation.
Ronald C. Nahas is a partner in Rafanelli and Nahas L.P., and President of the R.T. Nahas Company of Nevada. Mr. Nahas has been active in the real estate development industry for thirty five years. His experience includes development of first and second home luxury housing, apartments, shopping centers, and office and industrial buildings located in Northern California, Nevada and Idaho.
Mr. Nahas is a member of the Urban Land Institute, past Trustee, and past Chairman of the Residential Council. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University in 1968, and is a resident of Lafayette, California.
Michael A. Torres is Chief Executive Officer and portfolio manager of Adelante Capital Management () and serves as an advisor to the Company. Torres joined the firm in February 1995. He has 21 years of real estate and securities research experience. Prior to joining Adelante, Torres was the Director of Real Estate Research and a portfolio manager for Wilshire Asset Management. At Wilshire, he created the Wilshire Real Estate Securities Index, widely recognized as the industry's performance benchmark.
Torres is Chairman of the Board of Directors for Adelante Funds and serves on the Board of the UC Berkeley Foundation. He is also a member of the Board and has been a mentor in The Robert Toigo Foundation's mentor program. Torres' affiliations include the New America Alliance and the YPO Northern California Chapter.
Torres received a B.A. in Architecture and a M.B.A. from University of California, Berkeley.
